Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
The short version
The EchoQuill app processes your voice entirely on your own computer and sends us nothing. This website collects only what you voluntarily type into it (your email, if you sign up for updates). We don't run ads, don't use tracking cookies, and don't sell data — there's nothing to sell.
The EchoQuill app (what it does NOT collect)
- Your voice and microphone audio are processed locally on your PC and never uploaded.
- Transcribed text, dictation history, statistics, and your custom dictionary are stored only on your computer.
- The app contains no analytics, telemetry, tracking, or crash reporting.
- Network use is limited to: (a) one-time speech-model downloads, (b) audio downloads for video URLs you paste, and (c) requests to an AI provider only if you enable one yourself with your own account. Your optional API key is stored in the Windows Credential Manager (the operating system's secure vault) on your own machine.
This website (what it collects)
- Email address — only if you submit it through the signup form, used solely to send occasional product updates. Forms are processed by Formspree (their privacy policy). Unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email or by contacting us.
- Basic server logs — our host, Cloudflare, records standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages requested) to serve and secure the site (Cloudflare's privacy policy). We do not add any analytics or tracking scripts of our own.
Purchases (EchoQuill Pro)
Pro purchases are handled by our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy, acting as merchant of record. They collect the information needed to process payment (name, email, billing details, payment method). We never see or store your card number. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy. We receive your email and license status so we can deliver and support your license.
Your rights
You can request a copy or deletion of any personal data we hold (realistically: your email address) at any time by contacting us. EU/UK visitors have rights under GDPR and California residents under CCPA; we honor deletion and access requests from anyone, anywhere.
Children
The site and app are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Material changes will be noted in the release notes.
